A DIY chalkboard wall

Every teacher needs a chalkboard wall. No? That's just me?
Oh well.

We had the perfect spot for something fun on one of our dining room walls, but Andrew didn't want to commit to painting the whole thing black with chalkboard paint-I was all for this!

We compromised on a design idea, and just when I thought he needed more convincing I came home the other day to my board on the wall! Eeee!! So happy!

The project used a huge sheet of 1/4 in hardboard and some chair rail molding. Everything was then nailed directly into the wall. For best finished results, "prime" the dried paint by rubbing chalk on it, then wipe away.

I am so in love with the board and ecstatic to cross another project off of our long decorating to-do file. Now it is off to ikea this weekend to celebrate a year of marriage and to try and tackle a couple more bullet points on our ever-growing house list!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend planned too!
