DIY Lemon Honey Sugar Scrub

Summer is just around the corner! With warmer weather on the rise, leg revealing attire is close in tow and a great exfoliating scrub is a must for me around this time. I searched online for a quick and easy recipe, but when my ingredients came up short I combined a couple ideas and came up with this lemon and honey sugar scrub. It smells absolutely delicious and feels even better on the body. With only four ingredients it was too easy not to share, especially since the components of the scrub are good for your skin too!

You need:

2 cups of brown sugar
Olive oil
1/2 of a small lemon
2 tablespoons of honey

What to do:

1. Pour the brown sugar in a mixing bowl and add a bit of olive oil. I did not use much; less that a cup. Just keep adding a little at a time until the sugar is wet, but not soaking.

2. Add the honey. This will combine everything together to give it a good consistency.

3. Squeeze 1/2 a lemon into the mix for a fresh, yummy aroma.

4. Move the mixture to an air-tight container. I used a small mason jar and put it right in my shower... it works perfectly!

Why it's wonderful:

Brown sugar Smoother and less harsh than salt scrubs, the natural glycolic acid in sugar not only helps exfoliate, condition, and moisturize skin, but protect it from toxins.

Olive Oil: Rich in vitamins and full of moisturizing properties,  olive oil is used for stretch marks, acne treatment, and in anti-aging products.

Honey: Great for it's vitamins such as B, C and amino acids, honey moisturizes the skin and provides the skin with anti-aging properties because of it's antioxidants.

Lemon: Brightens, softens, helps to fight age spots, and just plain smells good!
